Why the government should prevent violence in school?

Some people think that school environment is one of the areas under the spotlight of child protection. In many cases, cases of violence occurred against children at school. Violence against children may be accompanied by physical and emotional abuse, neglect, sexual abuse and other causes. These disruption potentially affect development, health and survival. In general, violence within school environment cannot be separated from the punishment, probably from teacher or peers. Here are some factors why the government should prevent violence in school.

The first factor is the government should take care the children to establish human right. Based on the 1945 constitution 28B paragraph (2). It can be interpreted that a child is included in the subject and the various things of the state entitled to the protection of constitutional rights from attract of others.

Intrinsically, school cases that apply physical punishment in the form of violence are not recommended but it should be the punishment that is more positively influential for their future life. Violence itself is the seed of this country’s destruction. Because it opposes Pancasila as the basis of the state. Therefore, the right of child to be free from the violence should be further emphasized in Indonesia. In order to reduce violence in the children.

The children’s future who are victims of violence themselves can be threatened because of physical and non-physical injuries. For example, the case in a secondary school in South Sulawesi that resulted in four students being beaten by their English teacher using his hand and broom stick. It caused the parents of student to get shocked by their child’s condition after school that day. The reason why the teacher beat them because the students were very chaotic when class started.

Physical injury can cause the children to be embarrassed to get along and get traumatic for some things that supported their persecution that their experienced. And it could have been the wound their experienced that make themselves disabled. While non-physical injuries can make the children become mentally unstable so that they could be a killer in the future. Because of their bad victim of violence experienced.

The acts that can harm the welfare of children are all behaviors that make children feel worthless, unloved, or undesirable. I think this act of violence is not just the government task. But the first, the government must educate the society, the parents and also the children themselves to ensure the safety of children who are the generation of a precious nation for the future.

Prevent this case may also be done by rehabilitee the victim of violence, so they will not “take revenge” to the victim. The child later will instead make the biter experiences as a lesson that violence is a wrong way to educate children. Accordingly the victim will not commit violence to their children or their friends someday. Reducing the spectacle of violence on the local TV and also international channel TV can also be a solution because children are more likely to be curious about something new. The children learn violence from the movies or everything that they watch on TV.

We already know that the children are in the protection of the human right. Therefore, they are entitled to protection from the various parties; from school and also the government environment.
